Welcome to the online test designed to examine your knowledge of English grammar.
Before beginning the test, please read some test-taking suggestions that will help you to better determine the level of your English.
There are 104 test questions (10 on each page), they cover most English grammar. The questions are given from a data base in random order, the number of questions at the present time is 202 . This is done to avoid the effect of automatic memorization of the answers.
Pay attention to the fact that even the difficulty of the questions has been randomized. (In our opinion, it promotes a more objective approach to the test - it involves a purely psychological factor.) So do not despair and do not close the page if you find the first question too difficult for your level. Simply answer the questions only if you know the answer.
Do not try to guess the answer if you do not know it. Just choose the option "I don't know". It will allow for a more objective evaluation; otherwise, your test results will be considered invalid (the computer will be offended with your scoffs!).
After passing the test comments, your knowledge will be presented. You will be able to find out the strong and weak points of your grammar knowledge. You will also get comments concerning your level. If you want this information e-mailed to you, fill in the corresponding form at the end of the test.
NB! The results of the present test cannot be an official document for job interviews or for the purposes of admission to higher educational establishments. We do not make any claims at this time. At the present moment there exists no precise level grading based upon grammar knowledge (and such a formula cannot exist at all), so we do not claim of knowing the ultimate truth.
We divide knowledge of English into levels guided by the experience of different courses, such as Cambridge, Oxford, Longman, etc. Because each of the aforementioned schools offers its own gradation, we tried to do something in between, having adapted it to the peculiarities of our nonnative-speaking customer.
